500+ 8th Graders Explore World of Opportunities at Discover STEM Careers Day

In late January, YouthForce NOLA, in collaboration with Junior Achievement of Greater New Orleans and Delgado Community College, launched the inaugural Discover STEM Careers Career Day. The event focused on exposing more than 500 8th graders from eight Orleans Parish middle schools to the possible STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) career pathways available in New Orleans and the educational pathways that lead to them. We appreciate the efforts of our presenters, ranging from educational partners like STEM NOLA and Delgado to training providers like NOTEP and Operation Spark, for making this such an impactful day.

Thanks to the collective work of the YouthForce NOLA and our collaborative partners, these middle schoolers are now able to make more informed decisions about their futures. Discover STEM Careers Day is part of larger, citywide efforts that the YouthForce NOLA collaborative is spearheading to ensure students have the knowledge, agency, and experience they need to succeed in college and career.
