Our incredible Soft Skills Teacher Fellows at the Soft Skills Showcase in May 2019

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! YouthForce NOLA is celebrating this week by appreciating all of our incredible teacher partners. All of the progress we make to ensure that New Orleans graduates are prepared for life after high school would not be possible without collaborators in classrooms. This week we hosted events to celebrate and share just how impactful our teacher partners are. 

At the Educator Externship Showcase on Monday, teachers who participated in the Spring Break Externships series shared their insights from visiting employers from around our region. Teachers learned both the technical and soft skills that are in demand among our region's fastest growing, prosperous career paths. A huge shoutout to Phillips 66 Alliance Refinery, LCMC, Ochsner Health System, Jacobs Engineering, and Woodward Design + Build for hosting educator externs

At the Soft Skills Showcase on Tuesday, teachers with the Soft Skills Teacher Fellowship (SSTF) demonstrated the impact that their yearlong endeavors have had on student empowerment and achievement. The Showcase offered the SSTF fellows the opportunity to highlight how they transformed their teaching to benefit their students. Through their work, our fellows have raised the self-confidence of over 60% of the students. Check out pics here.
